Just for a quick flip side (and don't get TOO excited, it ain't much), but Kotaku had a fun article on Ashley Riot's butt (looking forward to seeing that Bring Arts figure of him! xD)

Ashley and Sydney always had really unique designs.

Sorry to make anime invade again but Eizoken is still keeping up with its good designs for its cast

It was amusing watching anime fans be confused that this character was a girl. I do like how as more characters are introduced they are actually varied and not just the same stock "anime cute girl".

Some brazilian artists started a hashtag called #euzoken on twitter, where people draw themselves as the girls in eizouken opening... it all happened after some youtuber called the character designs as ugly and an artist tweeted a picture saying “myself ugly cartoon version” in protest

Euzouken is a pun with “eu”(I) + “Eizouken”, pretty great pictures coming out from that tbh

And crunchyroll noticed us!

The Resident Evil Remakes are really GOAT tier in term of women design. Jill, Claire, Annette, Ada, they all look really good without being sexualised at all.
Well, except Ada of course.

Zeta girlfriend also goes the similar direction. It still not perfect.

Ilsa, their commander, is a pretty strong lady and her first outfit pretty nice look with some weird designs. Her most recent outfit is very much a mess.

edit: One thing I want to add for GBFV is Percival be lovely

Watched a bit of a Wolcen stream and saw this character in a cutscene (note: this is from a video on YouTube that's an older build so the camera angle is different now). Such good design -_-

Game looks great otherwise, but I hate this dark fantasy trope so much.

Been playing a lot of Fate/Grand Order recently. Fair share of problematic designs (What the fuck is PassionLip), but it's got my girl Ryougi Shiki, who has a very simple design that just looks fantastic.

They need to add Arcueid for my one-two punch of simple but amazing Type-Moon designs

I love how great and simple she looks. Not 100% sold on her redesign tho

Yep. Feels like a throwback. Wish we could move on from stuff like this.

Completely kills my interest even though the rest of the game looks neat.

Someone posted this in the OT. Now of course this is the player without chest armor, but that model just does not look good.

Guess I'd take the Code:Vein approach and play a male, even though I *hate* creating male characters. That's what I present as IRL, I don't want to be that way in a game.

WTF is up with that design, lol? Looks like it came from the realm of Rob Liefield.

Hate to say I like the new design simply for fitting better and way more stylish shoes and black leggings (the skirt would work, but I don't get why it's like 5 inches long). 😅 🤣
Type Moon's artist has been really interesting to watch over the years, he got sooo good at drawing.

The skirt isn't 5 inches long, it's just being covered by a long sweater. The problem is a common artist mistake of making the legs way too long. In that picture her legs are more than a "head length" longer than her upper body. That's what makes the skirt seem short.

So...I've been playing my old Gamecube collection and...I completely forgot how bad Balder's Gate: Dark Alliance was for women....

??? Not really.
Her proportions between shoulders, waist, and crotch are about even; the problem is said crotch seems to be right where the skirt ends.

Her legs are "too long" probably because she's a cartoon character and that usually doesn't conform to head-counting so neatly.

Here's a picture where the legs got too long 🤣

(besides some of the obvious sexualization, I actually kinda love this outfit --- especially the colour palette)

I recall plenty of people mocking Arcueid over the granny skirt.
lol yeah, that's it. I respect sweater weather clothes, but baggy turtle neck with baggy dress looked pretty bad (actually, I will say I liked the colour of grandmama's skirt, but the navy suits her too)

You measure to the hip line (where the leg bones actually connect to the hip. You don't arbitrarily stop at the skirt lol. The character has a female body model which makes the hip line easy to identify at about where the sweater ends.

It's definitely a short skirt, but it's not a micro skirt like you're implying.

Monster Hunter isn't that great with fanservice armors, but Riders is taking it to a whole new extreme. The most obvious example is the Nagacuga armor, which previously was already one of the skimpier sets in the series.

This is what it looks like in Riders.

I will give it one thing. You can get realistic female armor in the game that doesn’t have boobplates (however sadly there are characters who do have that) and it looks quite nice and since you can transmog all armor, you can at least avoid it.

Zeta does have another outfit in the browser game that kinda better

Don't know her but she looks really cool.

I get what you mean but yeah I've always really liked Meruru too, the colors are gorgeous. Atelier has a lot of really nice designs mainly in the Dusk series like Ayesha, she's another favorite of mine.

The game itself looks fantastic and the gameplay is also very good but the designs of the women are laughable so far.

The dialog and story are a trashfire too. As if a 14 year old was asked what's cool and sexy...

She's basically a jab to Sweden for banning DoA Dimension over accusations of child pornography.

Damn. Had no idea.

Looks like Nintendo acted preemptively before any real legal trouble started, and I think this was the first (and only?) DOA game on Nintendo hardware.

Still, it's probably why in the earlier games Tecmo hid the ages of Kasumi and Ayane in the western versions. If the intention behind Marie Rose is true, then combined with this it's safe to say Tecmo konws exactly what it's doing.

They do, as far as I'm concerned. Can't be a coincidence that after that whole mess, one of the games introduced a Swedish girl who claims to be 18 years old despite looking not older than 14.

That she became a fan favorite almost immediately is just the icing on the cake.
