A lot of people say how they love how the movie makes Vader so damn scary but I actually think the way they use the Death Star is just as impressive. It's this massive, ominous thing in Rogue One and actually seeing it from the surface of a planet?

Spine chilling.
Indeed! And knowing before hand what it does and what it's going to do is scary af. Those takes seeing the Death Star from the perspective of someone on the planet make it even scarier. This sequence does a pretty good job building up sensations and emotions till the very end.

Really, i love how well thought this movie was. It's easily one of my favourite SW movies.

As huge fan of anything star ship battle related (X-Wing on PC is my most beloved PC game of all time), my specific scene has to be when all wings are reporting in before the Battle of Endor.
  1. All the ships jumping out of hyper space
  2. The music is perfect at building up anticipation.
  3. Seeing all the squadron leaders calling in
  4. The confusion ensuing about whether the shields are up
  5. Then seeing all the Imperials on the other side!
  6. Also knowing that this is the ENTIRE rebel fleet, so if they fail then the Rebellion is essentially done
The Battle of Scariff is a more enjoyable battle to watch, but the stakes at the Battle of Endor just seem so much higher.

Seriously, my palms still get clammy just watching it!

My favourite moment is this one, no doubt about it:

Oddly enough for me it’s

and as Luke looks at the Binary Sunset and the music swells and you think about how small his world is right then and what he’s about to embark on...

Enough to make this grown man shed a tear these days.
Although there are so many honorable moments. Without thinking too much:

Movies:
-Vader vs Luke on the Death Star II.
-Endor space battle.
-"Ramming speed" scene on TLJ.
-Asteroid chase in both, Episode II and V.

Games:
-TIE Fighter: "Gamma 1 is the Emperor's stool pigeon!". Oh shit.
-KOTOR: Yeah, that moment.

Other media:
-*All* the space battles on the X-Wing book series. Pure porn.
-Absolutely every moment of this video, a love letter to the 90's PC simulators:

The Rebels fight between Obi-Wan and Maul is top tier, but this really gets to me.

Rebels is fantastic.

Several:

Sidious fighting Maul and Savage Oppress

Anakin briefly catching a glimpse of what he would become and seemingly turning (those yellow eyes, whew)

Revisiting Geonosis in Rebels and realizing the entire species had been wiped out and used to build the Death Star (really grim and morbid)

Ahsoka facing off against Darth Vader and revealing part of his face. Coming back around, realizing Ezra pulled Ahsoka out of that fight through the time portal.

Thrawn. Every time Thrawn appeared he was a delight. Also when he realized he was finally bested in the very last episode and went into hyperspace to God knows where.

Both times the Death Star is used in Rogue One. The visuals are off the chart and really sells just how dangerous this thing can be.

Practically all of my favorite moments are from the animated series. Go figure.

God, I fucking love this scene so much. Not only is it my favorite scene in all of Star Wars, it's one of my favorite scenes in cinema period.

The lead up to this with Rey and Kylo in the elevator where they're both saying they will turn for each others, so Kylo betraying Snoke and making you feel like he went to the lightside to the final gut punch when we find out that he wants Rey to turn with him. Everything is pitch perfect and if that wasn't good enough, it's cutting in between Finn/Rose and Poe/Holdo's storylines with all three plotlines climaxing at the first same time with Holdo raming Snoke's armada.

IS. IT. FUCKING. AMAZING.
GOD I need to watch this masterpiece again

While I agree, Scariff had some equally great tension. This is the Rebel Fleet at their lowest, dealing with scraps of a fleet, a divided command, and shaky morale. They've never won against the Empire before, and they're clearly in way over their heads. It's all or nothing, and they deftly combined the land/space combat in a way I haven't seen done since RotJ.

Hard to pick just one. I’d love to post some gifs, but they never really work out for me.

Revenge of the Sith scene where Palpatine is telling Anakin about Darth Plagueis.

Return of the Jedi where Vader taunts Luke about Leia, which sets off Lukes anger.

Force Awakens where Kylo Ren defeats Finn and Rey force pulls the lightsaber.

The Last Jedi Luke and Yoda scene.

And basically from the moment Luke shows up on Crait and forward. His reunion with Leia is amazingly done, made even more heartwarming and heart breaking due to Carries passing. Lukes entire “fight” and conversation with Ben. And then his eventual passing. It’s such an amazing sequence of events from an emotional and visual stand point.

This, for me, is the greatest moment of heroism in any Star Wars media. Finn lights that saber knowing he has no chance of winning and fights anyway. This was the perfect capstone to his character arc.
Shame they had him spin his wheels afterwards.

No doubt and I'm in firm agreement. The Battle of Endor takes the edge for me because it brings me back to my childhood and that nostalgia is hard to beat.

The joygasm I experienced when seeing Red and Gold leader from Death Star I battle again during the Battle of Scariff was off-the-charts!

The third act of Return of the Jedi is the high point of the entire franchise.

It's either this...

...or this...

The first one is just insane, because nobody expected Palpatine would personally travel to Mandalore to kill Maul and his brother. He would've sent Dooku, you think, unless he believed Maul was stronger than Dooku now.

Then they fight and he's clearly not even taking them seriously, instead having fun dismantling them both. It's a really cool lightsaber fight, possibly the best in all of Star Wars, and in the end Maul isn't begging for his life - he's begging for a quick death.

The second one is powerful for entirely different reasons. Seeing Obi-Wan and Maul face each other down one last time, seeing Obi-Wan only activate his lightsaber when Maul realises Luke is on the planet, the way Obi-Wan so effortlessly cuts Maul down...

Thanks to this one short scene you can tell why Vader was hesitant in his fight against Obi-Wan because he could have easily cut the guy in half if he wanted.
Both of these scenes are amazing and makes me want to finally watch The Clone Wars. It's a shame that we've never got anything nearly as good as these fight scenes in the movies as it shows just how truly powerful and terrifying Sideous is.

Gosh, these clips remind me that I've never taken the time to watch Rebels, and make me feel like I really should do that. That Obi Wan/Maul scene was amazing.

An underrated great moment in the whole franchise, I think.

And... it's still super-fresh in my mind but...

This is quintessential Star Wars to me.

Everything about the final Vader/Luke duel, right up to Luke throwing his lightsaber at the Emperor's feet and the Emperor ironically conferring onto Luke his title."

"You failed, Your Highness. I am a Jedi. Like my father before me."

"So be it...Jedi."

Their first real showdown. It looks awesome. Vader is so menacing. It all leads to the big reveal. A little surprised that this hasn't been mentioned more.
Its a crime that it took 3 pages to get to this.

I especially love when you realize that Vader was basically just toying with Luke the entire time. When they meet up again after Vader gets knocked off the platform and he just goes berserk and basically just pounds Luke into submission (and I love how this is echoed in Return)

I'll add something different to this thread. Crowd reactions for trailers at Celebration are some of my favorite and the trailer for season 3 when we see Thrawn is up there for me:

At the time we had heard rumors about it and then the phrase from I think Filoni "there's always some truth in legends" really got people excited prior to Celebration that year.

There is something about the Cantina scene that really sets the mood for the type of world that the Star Wars series inhabits. The strange aliens in a dark, seedy place club.

I love that Favreau used this as an inspiration for Mandalorian. I really think it has a lot to do with the popularity of the series.

Too many to name.

There are brilliant moments in every single movie in the series.

From Episodes 1-8 there are several great moments I love. It would probably be easier to break it down by each movie. Even then I'd just be mentioning several entire scenes.

No ironic bullshit or memes here. This is all stuff I genuinely enjoy.

Episode 1: Pod race, Pod race, Pod race, Tusken Raiders cameo, classic Star Wars theme playing for first time when Qui Gonn is melting the blast doors, swim to Gungan city, Obi and Qui Gonn vs Maul

Episode 2: Entire intro chase, Kaminoans voices and planet are awesome, Jango Fett, Obi and that EMP style bomb in the asteroid belt, Duel of Fates returns as Anakin searches for his mother and a Jawa cameo, Anakin finding his mother and going ballistic, killing the Tusken Raiders, I legitimately like Anakin's hateful lines followed by Imperial March for the first time, Count Dooku/Christropher Lee is wonderfully cheesy and I fucking unironically love it, Yoda fight

Episode 3: The entire second half of the film kicked off as Anakin cries and debates what to do, naming Darth........Vader, Yoda scaring Palpatine and their fight is one of my very favorite moments in the whole series, Obi vs Anakin, You were the chosen one, you were like my brother Anakin, I loved you, I hate you!, Vader's first breath and a few classic Star Wars sound effects just before it made me all giddy inside, order 666, chewbacca, and of course the last shots were perfection

Episode 4: Intro shot is perfection duh, "I'm going to regret this" just as they begin their ADVENTURE to help shape and save the galaxy", Luke finding his family and home destroyed, the twin suns shot, Mos Eisley Space port, the Cantina and the music, Obi cutting off Ponda Baba's arm and the disturbing shot and noises him and the Dr make as they moan to their deaths, Garindan and his cute elephant trunk and weird alien speech pattern, theme as they enter the Death Star, when I left you I was but the learner, now I am the master

Episode 5: the whole damn movie, I'm getting tired of posting all this lol

Episode 6: ditto

Episode 7: you get the point

Episode 8: yup, loved a bunch of it too

It’s a powerful conclusion to a lifetime of animosity. Obi-Wan is looking at the man who killed his master and the woman he loved and even now threatens the child he swore to protect. Maul is looking at the man he blames for everything, for his terrible wounds he survived only through sheer hatred, losing his position as a Sith, the years lost hiding out of insanity or fear...

Maul expected some grand finale but he was cut down in an instant. He never stood a chance.

Pre-Lucas fuckery, the unequivocal climax of the series was Vader throwing Palpatine down the reactor shaft as the force theme swelled.

But since Lucas ruined that with a nooooo, the new unequivocal best moment in the series is Luke's lightsaber flying past Kylo to Rey, as again, the force theme swells.

Truth. I was surprised as well. It’s so exceptionally well done. From that iconic silhouette of Vader where he intones, “The Force is with you young Skywalker . . . but you are not a Jedi yet” to the incredible reveal of Luke’s parentage, everything is just fucking perfect. It may be the best thing in the entire saga.

Other worthy considerations:

Yoda explaining the Force to Luke and lifting the X-Wing out of the swamp.
The final duel between Luke and Vader on the Death Star.
The trench run, particularly when Obi-wan instructs Luke to trust the force and the rebel command asks him why he turned off his targeting computer.
Rey force grabbing the lightsaber in TFA.
Luke looking out at the dual suns on tattooine as John Williams absolutely crushes it.
Vader at the height of his horrific powers at the end of Rogue One.
Luke striding out to face down the First Order.

Add Ben Burtt as a sneaky co-MVP. Nothing in pop culture even comes close to Star Wars for an array of iconic sound effects (tie fighters, R2, Chewie, lightsabers, blasters, Vader’s breathing, the Falcon) and it’s all Ben Burtt. Man is a genius.
