i mean there's no denying that a country's relative wealth and structure will really impact on how much it affects the populations. Like Aus is kind of threefold lucky in that the population is relatively low, relatively spaced out, and we largely generate our own food (at least at a staple level). The ability to lockdown at all is a privilege. I mean we're kind of seeing that with the US where people are more urgently realising just how fucked they are with healthcare tied to employment and the pandemic absolutely destroying the ability to remain employed.

Yep, we are really lucky. We can get angry and upset at a lot of policy and things that are still going on here but fuck, there are a lot of people who are going to be in horrible situations without anywhere near the level of choice we have. That is not to say we shouldn't be angry about how various things are here, but we need to keep some perspective too, and when things stabilize around the world, hopefully we all do what we can to offer aid to places still suffering from the virus.
